Tricia Jenkins, Ph.D.
Tricia Jenkins is an author, educator, podcast host and active member of the Fort Worth film community. She is a professor at Texas Christian University and teaches classes in film aesthetics, genre, broadcasting history, world cinema and more. Her research often investigates the relationship between Hollywood and the U.S. government, with an emphasis on the CIA and the military, although lately she has been more interested in topics like the mobile production industry and the role of film commissions and film festivals in the United States.
Tricia is the author or co-author of three books and more than twenty scholarly articles, and her writing has appeared in or been cited in the LA Times, National Public Radio, the BBC World Service, The Washington Post, FOX, Sony Entertainment and others.
In addition to her scholarly pursuits, Tricia serves as the chair of the board of the Fort Worth Film Commission and as a board member of the Lone Star Film Society. She is also the former book reviews editor of The Journal of Popular Culture. In 2021, Tricia launched a two-season podcast with Thirteen Media. Season1 explores her life growing up in a doomsday apocalyptic cult, while Season 2 explores the mysterious death of the Thai silk magnate, Jim Thompson. The season one podcast is called Worldwide: The Unchosen Church and season two is called Worldwide: The Disappearance of the Thai Silk King.
